It was at the six-week mark when the “new mom high” wore off and the immense worry set in. After having strictly fed my daughter breast milk, my supply reduced by more than half from one day to the next. Then suddenly I couldn’t produce milk at all. I worried I was turning out to be an unfit mother. Enter postpartum anxiety.

“Did my body give up on me? How am I supposed to connect with my daughter? She’s going to miss out on all the nutrients I worked so hard to build during my pregnancy. I feel so worthless. What am I supposed to tell the million people who asked me why I stopped, even though it wasn’t my choice? I feel like a bad mother.”

I really didn’t think it would be this hard to return to work, especially since I prayed for almost a year and went to great lengths to find the perfect nanny – someone that would make the transition seamless. But it’s not seamless. Not for me.
