Pleasure After Shame with @latinxsexpert

Held live on March 30, 2022.

The first step in living a life of empowered and whole sexual being is to eliminate the shame that many of us carry. In this workshop, certified sexuality educator Cindy Luquin walks us through healing and reclaiming our sexuality by illuminating the reasons we feel shame in the first place-our experiences growing up, community expectations, and mainstream media messages. As we hear stories from the heart, our shame vanishes, we become more compassionate with ourselves, regain our power, and experience a profound sense of healing.

About Cindy

Cindy Luquin grew up in a conservative, religious household. Like many children of immigrants, she learned that her family had strong opinions about certain subjects. Sex education was one of them. "When it came to sex and relationships, there was nothing but shame and fear." Luquin says.

Luquin saw how sex-negative attitudes shaped her family's thinking, and also their biases. She also experienced firsthand how this type of thinking can lead to shame and trauma. She said that while working in public education for 15 years, she discovered the value of comprehensive sex education. Cindy Luquin (she/they) is a certified bilingual sexuality educator, speaker and writer specializing in gender, pleasure, and wellness. A queer Guatemalan-Salvadoran and creator of Howl at the Womb a platform to celebrate diversity in Latinx communities. Their purpose is to contribute to a world where every person has access to accurate, inclusive, and reliable information about sex, sexuality, and pleasure—in English and Spanish.
