An Ode to My Hair

“I take pleasure in my transformations. I look quiet and consistent, but few know how many women there are in me.”

I’ve always been a fan of change, so cutting my hair for the first time in April wasn’t difficult for me, but it wasn’t until I kept trimming that I began to see differences in me. I have been simultaneously cutting inches and peeling layers from myself. I’ve revealed self-confidence, resiliency and sass that I didn’t know I had - two of which I’ve battled with my entire life. This is an ode to my hair, because it’s become my favorite form of self-expression, and a beacon on my path of fearlessness.

My hairdresser and owner of Bodre Cut & Color Room, Hector, warmed me up with chocolate hues, toned down the brassiness of my highlights and gave my hair life and texture with a detailed razor cut. I’ll be back again soon for some more…self-expression.
